The Western Hunting and Conservation Expo (WHCE) is a trade show that takes place every year at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hosted by the Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) & Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (SFW), the Hunt Expo is notorious for raising millions of dollars for wildlife agency conservation programs. In fact, even with a virtual expo in 2021 due to COVID, the event still managed to raise $8.1 million dollars with record numbers of bidders to the online auction and applications for Utah’s 200 limited entry tags.
The 2022 Hunt Expo will take place at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah on Feb. 10-13, 2022.
The Hunt Expo is an ever-growing hunting trade show that brings together hunters, conservationists, and industry experts from all over the world. Utah only gives out 200 trophy hunting tags which are auctioned off to sportsmen at the public drawing at the Hunt Expo. Tags are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity valued by the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) and the two conservation organizations at $1.5 million. The public drawing costs $5 per hunt unit application fee to those who apply and then validate their application in person at the Hunting Expo.
Five tags are also available for non-residents including 1 Desert Bighorn Sheep, 1 Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, 1 Shiras Moose, 1 Mountain Goat, and 1 Bison.
In addition to the 200 draw permits, the greatest collection of Governor’s hunting tags and auction permits ever assembled will also be auctioned at special events during the Hunting Expo, bringing hunters together from all across North America.

With over 60,000 attendees including experienced guides and outfitters from around the world, 425 exhibitors, a variety of events from free seminars to country music shows to stand-up comics, the Hunt Expo is always a good time.

- Kids 10 and Under: FREE
- Youth 11–17: $10/day
- Adults: $25/day
